Tuesday June 20th
Amazingly the most of the boys had to be woken at 7:30 am this morning! Some of the girls roused themselves this morning at 5:50 am.
After a hearty french breakfast we inspected the rooms. The scores ranged from 4 - 8. Generally the girls scored better than the boys! Perhaps it was because they got up so early and had lots of additional time!
At 9:40 am coach B (WSS and part of CRy) set off up the coast for Surtainville school. After an hour or so on the coach we arrived at the school. The children met their pen pals and communication began. We then took a short walk through the village to a picnic area on the outside of the village. After another fabulous lunch we walked to the coast and played on the beach with our french counterparts. After a walk along the beach we then ended up back at the school. A short tour of the classrooms and then a fond farewell.
Meanwhile back at Granville Coach A (BEy and part CRy) visited their French school which is in the town. The children again met their pen pals and attempted communication a la franglais! A short walk brought them to the local park which is close to the town's swimming pool. A picnic lunch again provided by the centre filled those hungry tums. After lunch a game of rounders, football and generally getting to know their french friends. Back at the school a game was played where each child worked with their pen pal. The English had to guess the word in French and vice versa with the French children.
An evening meal back the centre for all at 7:00pm. After this, some time spent in one of the two classrooms filling in those diaries. Mr A writes this during that time. Those that wish to watch the match will be able to whilst the more sane people will soak up the fabulous views and ambience of Granville.
Tomorrow we sail and visit the hypermarket. |
