Thursday June
22nd
Wake those sleepy heads for a quick breakfast at eight. We then left at 8:45 for the 30 minute drive down the coast to the meeting place where we met our guide. We left our shoes in the coach and then the coaches left us to drive down to the Mont St Michel car park.
At the edge of the bay our guide gave us a safety talk which was of course translated for us by Monsieur Greenfield. Our party consisted of all the children and adults from Greenway plus 10 other assorted walkers. We then began the walk at about 10:00. During the walk we cross 3 rivers. The deepest of which is knee deep. We also encountered many different types of sand as we crossed. Your children will recount these to you in graphic detail.
After hosing down those sandy feet we then met the coaches for our fabulous packed lunch and shoes when we arrived at the Mont. We then walked up the ramparts to the Abbey. Many steps! A walk around the Abbey and taking in the fabulous views followed. Following this we then walked back down through the narrow lanes towards the coaches where we met at 3:30pm.
After the drive back to the centre the children worked on their diaries before some free time before dinner. After dinner, showers for all and some packing before a disco at 9:00pm. Mr A. writes this as the children compete in room teams to get one object for each letter of the alphabet.
We head for home tomorrow. |
