French Trip 2006

Monday June 19th

After loading up at Greenway, we left at 6:40 am. we made very good time to Ashford where we had chance for some fresh air and toilets before we boarded our train. We set off at 9:28 am and arrived in France 35 minutes later.

An hour or so of driving bought us to the Baie de Somme services where we lunched and then walked up the viewing tower for some 'French air'.

We left the services at 1:05 and arrived at Bayeux at 4:00 pm. We walked from the car park to the tapestry. We then saw the tapestry and were helped through with a talking handset.

We left Bayeux at 5:30 pm and then drove through St Lo and onto Granville arriving at 7:00 pm. A short meeting at the front of the centre to give the ground rules followed by our first meal in the centre. We then settled into our rooms and rounded off the day by a short walk through town to a beach on the north side, near to the Casino.

Weather pleasant and not too hot. All safe and well.

Stopping at Ashford for a fresh air and toilet break.

Taking in the views from the top of the viewing tower at the Baie de la Somme services.
Entrance to the 900 year old tapestry. Visited by nations from around the world.
Safely arrived at the centre. Low tide with a briefing before dinner.
After dinner walking up through town to work off excess energy.
Language lessons still continue whilst we are away!
