Tuesday June 21st
After a restful nights
sleep for all we ate breakfast at 8:00am. This consisted of a bowl
of hot chocolate, orange juice and lots of freshly baked french
bread and butter. This was followed by our first room inspection.
(Check your child's book for scores!)
At 9:45
Coach A (6RGd and 6WSs) set off for an hours journey up the coast
to Surtainville. The children met their French pen pals and exchanged
greetings and gifts. We then set off for a walk through the village
and onto a shady area for lunch. We ate french bread with pate and
cheese, fruit and small cakes. This then gave the children the energy
for the short walk through the sand dunes and onto the beach. A
very pleasurable time was then spent playing on the wide beach with
their French counterparts (sun cream and hats essential of course!)
A walk back through the village and then a tour of the classrooms
followed by 'au revoir'.
Meanwhile
Coach B (6HLd and 6RPe) visited a school in Granville which was
only a five minute ride away. They again met their pen pals and
exchanged their presents and language skills. The children again
experience a typical French lunch. They then walked through the
town and onto a sports field where the children played some sports
together.
Once back
on site both groups spent some time capturing their thoughts and
experiences in their diaries. This gives them a reminder when they
come to look back on their trip in the future.
A final
activity of walking through Granville in the evening in small groups.
This gives the the children some idea of the layout of the town
before we take them in later in the week.
