After breakfast we
had some time in the classrooms at the centre. this gave the children
the opportunity to capture their experiences in writing and pictures.
It was also a relaxing activity giving the children (and adults!)
chance to rest and recoup as the week is tiring them out.
We ate
lunch at 11:30 and at 12:30 pm we set off for the short drive down
the coast to the point where we began our walk to Mont St Michel.
The walk takes about 11/2 hours as we walk across the sand. Your
feet experience many different types of sand as we walk along with
our guides. The sea goes out for twenty miles so once you are walking
all there is to see is sand everywhere! Once at the Mont we queued
up to have our feet hosed down and then met the coaches with our
shoes. After a snack and a drink we began the walk up France's second
most popular tourist venue. The views from the top are stunning
(if a little scary!)
After arriving back at the
CRNG for a late dinner all children then showered and then had their
room inspection. For those that had the energy a disco was provided
at the centre. (Mr A writes this whilst sitting at the disco!)
At the start of the walk we assemble and listen to the
instructions from our experienced guide Luc. He has made the crossing
over 1,000 times! The Mont is on the left in the distance with the
smaller rock Tombalaine on the right.
On the way to the Mont.
With the Tombalaine behind us, we are now walking towards the Mont.
Starting the climb up towards the Abbey.
At the top outside the Abbey the views are amazing. The sea goes
out so far you cannot 'see' where it is!
A quick look around the Abbey brings us to a giant fire place.
