After leaving on time
from Greenway we caught the 9:28am (BST) tunnel crossing to France.
We then stopped at the Baie de la Somme services for lunch. After
a lovely drive through some fantastic French scenery and also crossing
the Pont du Normandie, we arrived at Bayeux at 3:50pm (CET).
We had
a an enjoyable tour of the tapestry and it really helped with the
audio handsets guiding us around the tapestry in sections. The tapestry
is seventy metres long. A final drive of an hour then took us to
Granville and our lodgings for the week.
After
an evening meal of some great French food we then settled into our
rooms and had a safety drill. We then rounded off our first day
with some relaxing on the grass by the centre and a run around on
the nearby beach.
Happy travellers
on the Coach. Do your children usually look this cheerful at 6:45am?
David " I didn't
feel tired at all this morning. I felt really excited."
We lunch at the Baie de la Somme services.
We arrived at Bayeux at 4:15 pm. We then walked through the town
to the place shown right where we saw the tapestry. The tapestry is
housed in the wing just in sight on the right.
After arriving in Granville we had a fabulous evening meal at the
centre. We all then settled into our rooms and then had our fire safety
drill. A short team meeting and then a stroll around the harbour to
round off the day.
