Friday June 24th
The final
day. After waking many of the children for breakfast we then packed
our bags and vacated our rooms. This was combined with a final room
inspection of which many rooms scored a 10/10. One of the boy's
rooms was given an 11/10. The room was impeccable and the boys bribed
the judges (Messrs. Todd and Ayling) with sweets, a rhyme and a
refreshing drink to wash it all down with. Mrs Simons who inspected
the girl's rooms was not open to any corruptive nature!
A final
look at the diaries in the classroom and a challenge to name all
of the twenty flags outside the centre and we left the centre at
10:30am. We then drove for an hour until Caen where we then stopped
for a packed lunch before going into the Le Memorial De Caen. The
children behaved very well and absorbed a lot of information from
the museum.
Back
on the road at 3:30pm and a drive up to the Baie de Somme services
for some chips and a break. We then had a tunnel crossing
time of 9:08 booked. We made the crossing time fine and this was
then followed by our only encounter with rain for the entire trip
- exciting the train in Ashford! We made Greenway by 10:15pm.
