SCHOOL CLUBS

School clubs, teams and the diversity of extra-curricular activities are an integral part of life at Greenway. The children are offered a wide range of activities to develop existing interests, find new ones and promote skills that will continue to enrich their lives long after they have left the school.

All children are able to participate in either 7-a-side or 11-a-side football matches on Saturday mornings. Some matches are perceived as as "friendlies" while others are competitive league or cup matches. The school is grateful for much help and encouragement from parents both on the pitch and from the touchlines. The enthusiasm and commitment of the children is always evident to spectators.

Competitive matches are also organised for netball, cricket, hockey, basketball, rugby and rounders. Sports days are organised for Years 3 and 4 and then Years 5 and 6 separately.

Greenway children benefit from the availability of the swimming pool built by parents' donations. This is open in the second half of the summer term and the first half of the autumn term. Most children leave Greenway as confident and competent swimmers.

Children have opportunities to enjoy many varied activities in the school’s spacious and well-equipped hall. The recent addition of four activity trails has provided extra physical challenges to all the children.

Every year, Greenway enters a national competition for pupils to produce their own newspaper.

Year 6 pupils show off their award winning entries at a House of Commons presentation.
